Attached please find the article SNAPPER'S SHORT SEASON from the April issue of "Outdoor Alabama". I find it disturbing that Alabama's massive, and highly successful, reef building program is ignored when it comes to setting seasons and limits in the fishery because man-made structures are excluded from your surveys. I have been an offshore recreational fisherman for the last 15 years and I will agree that the average size of Red Snapper has increased in that time frame. However, I have also personally observed a dramatic decrease in Biodiversity in the fishery. It is a travesty of science to continue promoting the exploding overpopulation of Red Snapper through your "rebuilding" classification to the utter decimation of other species such as Vermilion Snapper, Triggerfish, and Grouper.
