I do not support the shark conservation act.
The Enviros have made a big deal of something that hasn't been an issue in the US for over a decade now. They have successfully driven the price of fins in the last year down to 1/3 of what they previously were. I mainly catch small coastal sharks in the Gulf of Mexico. I would suggest that fishermen be allowed to remove the fins of all small coastal sharks at sea if they aren't going to sell the fins anyway. This would actually make it more profitable for fishermen that target the shark meat only. If the dogfish fins in the north east aren't profitable to sell ,it should be obvious that the small coastal shark species fins are not profitable anymore either. As for the larger sharks that we catch , I still will agree that they be landed with the fins intact to discourage the practice of finning. The fins that are naturally attached and sold should be able to be sold to, or through any state in the US.
