secretary of commerce Please look at lack of information showing the dwarf seahorse needs to be listed as endangered or threatened by loss of " critical habitat". Seagrass loses has been little or none in south florida area size 14,622 sq.km. Listed as stable. In united States this area is there critical habitat. Large number of this area already has protections no take zones. No commercial fishing has been done in those location for some time.Largest area being everglades national park. National marine fisheries service concluded " substantail scientific or commercail information indicating" Protection of the dwarf seahorse may be warranted. Substantial scientitic data is key here. I find very little of the information should be called substantial. Fact is there are more questions with no answers, needs close look. Loss of habitat in Bermuda,Bahamas,Florida,Cuba,Belize,Mexico,Puerto Rico? This is very large area of geographic range. That points to fact they have large habitat area now even with habitat losses listed as 50% to 90% in Florida area. Im sure habitat loses in its range as a hole are no were near that high. Commercial data again substantial . With only Florida showing any commercial use. Florida is not its full geographic range. To act on this petition in favor of protection under endangered species act with such lack of information on habitat loss in all the dwarf seahorses geographic rang would be alarming. Must be good scientific data from all its range to conclud such proction is needed.. I fill this petition as not even got close to doing that. Locations in Florida with large habitat loss were not critical locations for the dwarfs seahorses . The commercial landing data show most were landed in south florida. Were habitat loses have neer been that high and i now stable to increasing. As well south florida has the biggest protected habitat area for dwarf seahorses in all of there range.Everglades national park. critical location yes!!!!!
