I OPPOSE any Sector Allocations in the Northeast or anywhere else in America. A similar scheme like this is playing out in the Southeast with endorsements for commercial Black Sea Bass and Golden Tilefish fishermen. This appears to be a way to get small groups of fishermen to support Catch Shares so they will be the winners while everyone else is shut out of the fishery.
I OPPOSE Catch Share schemes that will result from Sector Allocation schemes.
I OPPOSE pitting groups of fishermen against each other.
I OPPOSE allocating private ownership of public resources.
I SUPPORT a moratorium on any new fishery laws until the Magnuson-Stevens Act is reauthorized. The hard deadlines to end overfishing have been met. We need to take some time to allow the laws on the books to work and collect accurate data to use in credible stock assessments rather than rushing to pass one law after another.
Thank you for considering my comments. Please do the right thing for our fish, fisheries, and freedom. Please OPPOSE Sector Allocation and Catch Shares.
