As a recreational fisherwoman, I would love to see the vermillion snapper ACL raised up higher and possibly remove the recreational closed season. People very rarely target these beauties and we have noticed that at one of our locations, we can easily catch large vermillion year-round, yet only take them for a short season. It seems to me that they do not need to have such strict regulations on them other than the bag limit & size limit. We do not see this fishery as being stressed. It would be nice to take a few of these home in the winter when all the other snapper & grouper species are closed. The past 2 yrs, we barely even fish the winter months since so many species are off-limits and it isn't worth the $$ in gas to go out there and not bring something home for dinner.
