Sanctuaries embody our nation’s commitment to preserve the best of our ocean and Great Lakes for future generations, and I support NOAA’s proposed rule (NOAA-NOS-2012-0077-0063) to expand the boundary of Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Thunder Bay NMS has proven to be an excellent steward of our nation's natural and cultural resources. I appreciate the extent to which coastal communities have a controlling influence on sanctuary priorities, and I support the sanctuary's continued intensive public engagement effort.
