In my view, the U.S Navy's use of sonar of any description is environmentally irresponsible at a time when far too many species (including marine mammals) are being decimated for all kinds of selfish reasons. I am particularly sensitive to the harrassment of endangered right whales since they are here in the waters off my home at Cape Hatteras. The temporary exemption from environmental permits due to expire in January, 2009 should be allowed to do so.
