I think opening new trails in the New River Gorge to bikers and hikers is a great idea. I started biking and hiking this area in 2011 and it has became a part of my weekly routine. It is a beautiful area and a great way to get exercise. What I have noticed the bikers and hikers, including myself go out of our way to make sure the trails are well maintained. We pick up any debris to assure the next person passing through gets the beautiful experience we all come to New River Gorge for. I am not sure what an environmental study would be needed for. Considering we all try to leave the trails in better shape for the next person passing by. I have met bikers and hikers from several states away that come to this area specifically to enjoy the beauty of the New River Gorge trails.
