36 CFR Part 7
RIN 1024-AE10
Special Regulations; Areas of the National Park System,
Yellowstone National Park
AGENCY: National Park Service, Interior.
ACTION: Proposed rule.
My personal option is that there should be no regulation what so ever into Yellowstone National Park for over the snow vehicles of any kind. If people want to travel there with 10's of thousands of dollars worth of winter equipment to see Yellowstone and the animals, I have a hunch some signs, and suggestions of respect would be all you need to maintain a working relationship between the park and the public. You already have the park so restricted and locked up that it is almost a turn off to many people.
If you do have to regulate entry in the winter time for over the snow vehicles, then I suppose you have to do what you think you have to do, but do NOT shut off over the snow travel into the park, that is rediculous and has no benefit for anyone. In this day and age, that is the last thing the public needs, more governmental control, telling us what we can and cannot do.
Please consider a pro-active solution, working with your local snowmobile associations and snow enthusiasts to find a medium ground for everyone. Please do not shut access in the winter time off.
