* The National Park Service should implement the newly proposed “Best Available Technology” standards for snowmobiles no later than the 2015-2016 winter season. The National Park Service has determined that this target date is achievable based on existing technology. Moreover, the agency’s multi-year study found that these standards are needed to reduce air and noise impacts consistent with national park laws and policies.
* All snowmobiles entering Yellowstone must comply with the “Best Available Technology” standard specified in your new plan. Absolutely no exceptions.
The National Park Service has presented a plan and proposed rule with a stronger emphasis on protecting Yellowstone’s air and natural quiet in the winter. Let’s work together to address remaining concerns and finalize a plan worthy of America’s first national park.
Sincerely,
