I work where I am a person with a disability, rather than a disabled person. I can do my job, and there is not focus on my disability.
There is also no focus on accomodation without a big todo. The only accomodation I need is disabled parking. I need to be able to open my door wide enough to get in & out of my vehicle. My leg braces do not let me be flexible enough to squeeze into those small spaces when someone parks up against your door in the employee lot. I have always parked on the street so I won't get pinned in.
Our facility has NO DISABLED parking for employees. I would like to see a standard where this is not possible. All employers should provide disabled parking if they provide employee parking.
