I had been on Social Security Disabilty for over ten years, and was afraid that going back to work at my age of 58 years, would cause me to loose my Health Care benefits. The problem was that I could no longer support my way of life, on the poverty level of Disability that I was receiving monthly and no one cared. If it were not for this Center of Independent Living that hired me, I would not no what I would have done, because there are no employers that I know that are willing to hire someone at my age with a disability. The main problem that I am seeing is after my disability stops being paid to me, it will cost me a considerable amount of the money I earn just to pay for my health insurance benefits per month. The second problem is that I have had to take a considerable amount less in salary per year, which I have a B.S. college degree and over 15 years of experience in my field of Accounting. Do not get me wrong, I am grateful to even be employed, but I have no savings and retirement for the past ten years of being unemployed and that a huge disadvantage at my age. There is nothing good about being disabled or having the disability to make your life feel meaningless.
