As a Vietnam Vet, officer in local American Legion Post AND son & father of Veterans, I take special note of the forgotten Veterans of the Vietnam conflict. Unlike those from recent wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc, Vietnam Vets received little support from the public or private sectors upon reentering civilian life. As we aged and the country via all its social and governmental agencies focused on the all-volunteer force and a return to patriotism post-9-11, current men & women in uniform are well treated at all levels. However as our Vietnam Vet ranks have thinned due to age & retirements, those remaining in the workforce (or seeking to re-enter) are no longer shown the care they deserve AND are owed per Federal statues. It's time to remind employers that Vietnam Vet status is a consideration they must recognize and act upon. Strenthening the current regulations will have that effect at virtually no cost to employers. The results will be revenue positive as more Viet vets are retained or re-entered into the workforce.
Thank you!
