As Vice President of Safety for the National Utility Contractors Association, I
am request that OSHA extend the comment period for the proposed rule for
Confined Space Entry in Construction.
It appears that there have been a lot of changes to the document since the
Confined Space Work Group submitted its Memorandum to ACCSH in 1998. Because
this rule has been under development for such a long time, we believe it will
take more than 60 days to share its contents with our members and gather and
evaluate their suggestions so that the association can provide useful comments
on the NPRM.
Additionally, we need more time because the document is extensive and some parts
are missing (e.g., appendices), many construction companies will be closed for
the holiday period, and our association?s annual meeting is being held in
mid-January 2008.
We would appreciate your assistance in this matter and thank you for your time
and consideration
