I think this proposal will only serve as a revenue generation tool for the
standards industry. Standards will be changed or modified to generate income
instead of the betterment of the product.
It cost me $25.00 to find out my $9.67 Johnson & Johnson First Aid Kit is in
compliance with ANSI standard Z308.1-2003.
Why not let the manufacturers of the equipment get a certification on their
product from the standards industry and then sell it to the user with the guarantee
that the product is in compliance for the required use on the date of the purchase.
Make the standards available free of charge, to anyone intrested, on the
standards writers website for all equipment used as Personal Protective
Equipment or Safety and Rescue devices.
