Fall protection should be part of the PPE in the 1910.269 standard. The strap used today is a positioning strap and has no fall protection. We have been in fall protection for the last year and it has already paid for itself in the five cases that I witnessed. All of these occasions were while we were training and trying to become proficient. The lineman today does less climbing than past, therefore are a lot less proficient.
