I represent union members at a large manufacture in Middletown, CT and the training provided is adequate but still has a large room for improvement. That is why I would like to recommend more stronger and specific training requirements. We have a general PPE awareness training and specific respirator training for hazardous chemicals s like chrome VI but the training doesn’t specify the hazards and requirements to wear the PPE for all the other types of chemicals in the workplace. That is why I would like the training to meet stricter specific training requirements with adult learning techniques and an annual training for all PPE. Also emphasis in the training should include that PPE is a last resort and the hierarchy of controls must be followed.
