I am the owner of Transformer Disposal Specialists Inc OK SHARPS # OK1139. TDS has been a sharps company for many years, our company and workers have benifited tremendously from the SHARPS program. We find it a proactive approach to worker safety, instead of reactieve after some type of inforcement action. It is a win win, (they are rare) The changes in the rule that are proposed will take away the win for employeers and there incintive to praticipate in a SHARPS program. Almost every person I explain the benifits of the current porgram too (both employer and employee benifit) first find it difficult to believe, then once convenced that it is a real program they think it is about the best government program they have ever heard of and get excited at the prospect of praticipating in a work togethr program. Our work environment is 1000% better by the program, and we are proud to be exceptional and above average. We also enjoy the real employer benifits of SHARPS status offers, without the exemption and non inspection status there is no longer an incintieve to become a SHARPS company.
