I don't know if there is any one left with a sense of logic that is respectful to land, water, air, animals, human beings, but we are kindly requesting that "fracking" not take place in southern Illinois. We need our water for what should be obvious reasons: drinking to keep our bodies alive, for our crops and animals, and household use. We at the Vinyard Indian Settlement have our entire water dependency centered in the earth by means of springs, springs that have been used for thousands of years. Regulating an industry that is leaking poison into our ground water is not in any way acceptable. It must not happen. People are seriously upset about the possibility of "regulations" in that regulations indicate a form of acceptability. You can either be remembered as loyal citizens of our country or you can sell out to a greedy corporation bent upon getting what it wants at any cost. The council of the Vinyard Indian Settlement is unanimous in its opposition to any acts of mining, drilling, crushing that will endanger our rights to live in harmony with our environment.
