I write to express my strong opposition to the relaxation of rules protecting the watersheds in areas affected by mining. Why are we encouraging yet more abusive mining practices when we should be moving in exactly the opposite direction? This catering to mining interests at the expense of public health and the future of the environment is antidemocratic and cynical.
