I am a citizen concerned with the loss of valuable wilderness and culture in the
pursuit of profits. Throughout the years Appalachia has consistently been
overlooked as an expendable part of American land and culture. Allowing Coal
companies more of a right to the land than not only the inhabitants, but the
Earth itself, is not only wrong, unlawful, unconstitutional and immoral, it is
illogical. Why are we willing to sacrifice thousands of peoples lives, local
histories and health for the sake of Coal companies? I am not willing to stand
for higher profits at a higher human cost. I have read articles concerning
people like Marie Gunnoe who has suffered loss after loss due to Big Coal's
encroachment on her land. Please respect the rights of the local Appalachians,
they'd respect yours.
Thank you for your time.
