Considering the Clean Water Act, I am for this proposal but how many companies around surface water actually follow and abide by this proposal? I can speak for where I live now that the public municipal water in the Tampa Bay area is horrendous. Sometime it comes out a brownish tint and tastes just as bad as it looks. Also, sometimes while showering it has a sulfuric type smell to it. I thought it was just in my area but after going to different friends homes in the area (different area codes) they have stated that they have the same issue. They refuse to cook and drink from the source and would rather spend the extra money to have “clean water.” As I understand the proposal the clean water act controls against discharging pollutants into the surface water without a permit. Why should companies be able to obtain a permit to dump potentially hazardous materials into the surface water that they themselves may be drinking or cooking with? This doesn’t make to much sense to me. A company can dump hazardous materials into the water and all they need is a permit showing they can, this just seems wrong and unethical. I agree with the law I just don’t see that many people following it unless I am just blind but the water speaks for itself, horrible.
