Distractions of cellular devices for voice conversations, whether hands free or not, is prevalent problem. Hands free does not mean mind is not concentrating on the conversation in the ear and full attention is not on driving. Cellular device should not be lawful to use while driving. Distractions of cellular devices for texting purposes greatly reduces reaction time and vehicular control. These should not be lawful to use while driving. Many distractions can be present in a vehicle that are hazardous when driving: Taking eyes off road to change radio stations or CDs. Eating meals while driving. Reading book or newspaper. Reading any material, like road maps, while scanning street for address. Putting on makeup or shaving while driving. All of these are bad but phone conversations and texting seem to be highest causes of accidents due to driver distraction.
