There still exists major economic disadvantages between a small business designated to have 500 employees and those that have 10 or less. I'll wager that the 10 or less small businesses(the "mom and pop" stores) make up the backbone of American business. As such, these much small businesses, by size, should be treated differently than businesses with 500 employees. If the intent is to level the playing field as far as government contract bidding, it will not help these micro-businesses as they attempt to compete with the 500 employee enterprises. Perhaps, smaller sub-groups could be designated and some preference given to them for competing for smaller government contracts. Just an idea to keep the truly small business segment more competitive.
