As an employee of Great Lakes Environmental Center (GLEC), I am writing this letter to express my support for increasing the size standard limits for sector 541 Professional Services categories (NAICS codes 541620, 541690 and 541611) from $7M to $14M. The current size standard limits place our firm at a significant competitive disadvantage and limit our company's potential for continued growth. In our industry sector (scientific and engineering services and consulting) there has been tremendous consolidation of businesses in the past decade, which has significantly changed the numbers and size distribution of companies. To remain competitive in the marketplace for government contracts, GLEC has adapted by more aggressively partnering and increasing the capitalization of field sampling equipment. While these strategies are necessary from a business development standpoint, they have both contributed to GLEC's exceeding the small business size standard. It seems reasonable that these standards should increase over time, as has been proposed by SBA.
