The SBA's priority is to ensure that those firms with a 8a or WOSB keep their contracts. Increasing the size standard helps towards this goal. Increasing size standards for the current firms will take away the abitly for new start up firms to get any traction. It is the new start ups that add price competition and new jobs. This will even affect small buisness such as VIP Verified SDVOSB/VOSB or even newly certified 8a firms. Reducing size standards accross the board is the key to success for small business.
What the SBA calls a "small business" is not really a small business. Just ask anyone on the "street" what the definition of small business is.
This is an attempt by the SBA to limit the ability of the VA's SDVOSB program which is competing for contracts against the 8a firms.
