The National Psoriasis Foundation appreciates the opportunity to comment on the criteria used by the Social Security Administration to evaluate skin disorders in adults and children applying for disability benefits. The National Psoriasis Foundation exists to find a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and to eliminate their devastating effects through research, advocacy and education. Psoriasis is a noncontagious, chronic, inflammatory, painful, disfiguring and disabling disease for which there is no cure. The Psoriasis Foundation reviewed the criteria in consultation with medical experts as well as patients who have been through the disability application process. As the largest psoriasis patient advocacy organization, we are glad to offer the attached revisions to Sections 8.00 and 108.00 in the Listing of Impairments.
