In the worst recession, really a global recession, in more than half a century, millions of Americans who had decided to take their social security at 65 are having to resort to taking it early. We lost our jobs, are or are almost losing our homes, and are like most people, doing what we have to to make ends meet. We did not consider taking our benefits at 62 risky and CERTAINLY not an interest free loan. We took them because we NEEDED them right now. We were told at that time by SS we could pay them back. We fully intended to do that once things turned around. We operated on that knowledge. Now we find out today that infact that option is not there for us anymore. No notice, no period to pay it back, just too bad, game over. I find this unconscionable in this difficult period for all Americans but mostly seniors. I strongly urge you to give a one year grace period. I believe only one early withdrawal is fair but give those of us who were forced to take benefits early due to this disasterous time a fighting chance to pay back what we have taken so when we do turn 65 we can have benefits we earned to help us through our declining years. BE FAIR!!!! This time we are enduring calls for sensitivity and fairness!!!!
