Mark Twain once said, “The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin”
Regarding the "income-related monthly adjustment" [ie: TAX],
I want to comment on (1) the flawed reasoning behind charging citizens more for the same insurance product made available to others for less and (2) to suggest a cost saving improvement.
First, any income related "adjustment" can only be properly made by altering the tax code. When an agency offers a product such as insurance it should be the same price for all citizens. Does the Government Printing Office charge more for publications based on the income of the subscriber? Does it "discount" for subscribers who earn less? It seems only reasonable that citizens who have contributed more to the system should have access to the same products and benefits at the same rate as other citizens. To cheat our citizens at retirement age is to discourage thrift and work.
Secondly, many Medicare recipients are covered by multiple health insurance policies/benefits. They should receive a REDUCTION since Medicare could APPORTION primary coverage.
The proposed "adjustment" does not inspire confidence in the Agency or the administration.
Thank you for your consideration.
