I fully support the petition for Snipes Mountain to be identified as its own viticultural area within the larger Yakima Valley and Columbia Valley AVAs. As a winemaker who has had experience with vinifera fruit sourced from vineyards across the Yakima Valley I can vouch for the distinctive flavor and aroma characteristics of the wine produced from the vineyards located within Snipes Mountain. Snipes Mountain fashions a well known and distinctive geographical landscape that dramatically rises in the center of the Yakima Valley. It’s excellent exposure, relatively small size and unique soils make it the perfect candidate for the next Washington State AVA.
