The proposed Lake Chelan AVA is climatically, topographically, and geologically distinct in the US and in Washington State. This proposed AVA has a great potential to explore some unique grape varietals for WA state. To date many of the wineries rely upon production from areas outside of the proposed AVA. It would be very exciting and apt to see some grape varieties grown in this lake effect region in WA state get the recognition they deserve and the winery space in the Lake Chelan area wineries.
