As the President of the Antelope Valley Winegrowers Association, I would like to show my wholehearted support for the establishment of the Sierra Pelona AVA. Every Vineyard in the area is working very hard at producing unique and high quality wines. The unique soil and temerature difference from the Antelope Valley and Leona Valley allows the production of such full bodied and balanced wines. I enjoy the fact that after the Anteolpe Valley area is done harvesting, we get to enjoy harvest again a few weeks later, as the grapes have a longer hang time in Sierra Pelona region. The history of successful grape growing and winemaking in that area supports the fact that this is truly a unique grape growing area.
