Comments by Winemakers Federation of Australia in support of Proposed Revision to Vintage Date Labeling Requirements
Docket No. TTB-2011-0008 Notice No. 122
The Winemakers Federation of Australia is the peak industry body in Australia representing Australian wine producers.
The United States is the second largest market for Australian wine exports. I would also note that we have been working closely with the Wine Institute of California and Wine America for many years attempting to harmonize wine regulations internationally, and this proposed change is consistent with that philosophy.
We would like to thank TTB for the opportunity provided to the Australian wine industry to comment in support of the proposed changes to labeling requirements by allowing vintage labeling for wines labeled with a country as an “appellation of origin”.
We strongly support the proposed changes.
