The Umpqua Valley AVA has a number of diverse climates and soils types making it ripe for several sub AVAs. Even so, the area around Elkton is perhaps more divergent than the Southern most and Western most portions of our AVA. It would serve the general public well to know a wine is made from grapes grown in and around the the cooler climate of Elkton.
