I completely support the formation of the Moon Mountain District AVA. I have been making wine in Sonoma Valley for 36 years. The uniqueness of the wines produced from fruit grown within the proposed AVA is clearly apparent. The elevation, slope, aspect, and soil types are specific to that area and unlike other areas within Sonoma Valley. The history of vineyards in this area dates back to the late 1800's. In the 1930's Louis Martini purchased the vineyard and renamed it Monte Rosso in recognition of the mountain aspect and red volcanic soil. The stellar reputation of Monte Rosso and surrounding vineyards has continued for decades since then. The designation, Moon Mountain District is, both descriptive and informative. Thank you for your consideration.
