I support the PVSA as written. Foreign Cruise ships are dodging the law
prohibiting inter/intra state transport of passengers by foreign hulled vessels. By
allowing transportation of passengers on foreign hulled vessels you are eliminating
any incentive for US companies to build large cruiseships. The US and Alaska
gain little but pollution from foreign cruiseships. Most of the money spent on
cruises goes overseas and is a negative balance to our foreign trade. Our town of
Sitka, Alaska sees little real income from large cruiseships and would replace the
lost income with smaller US owned and operated vessels and other destination
type tourism. Hopefully if there is as much money in cruises as some people
purport PVSA as written will cause the cruiselines to build some US built and
crewed vessels. Thank you. Sincerely, Jim Edson Sitka, Alaska
