This rule could go either way. Considering that brokers are in charge of majorly important information in regards to the clients some information shared could become harmful to the client. If the wrong person gets ahold of the information, then it could be used for other purposes then stated in said proposed rule. However, I think that the information used in the correct manor could benefit both clients and brokers in their business transactions. “It is well settled that customs brokers have a fiduciary duty to protect client information.” This to me is the most important piece of information given in the proposed rule and it goes without saying to be the most truthful. Brokers are required by law to keep accurate records and within those records are essentially people’s lives. When dealing with a broker, the clients give them the most intimate information about their financial status and so forth, this being said the information used in the wrong way could harm someone for the rest of their lives, and could become very costly to fix should there be an issue. I reaffirm my decision that this could go either way, but that I am leaning more towards not being allowed to share such important information.
