I am a resident of Franklin. I do not support the expenditure of millions of tax dollars to support the Morses line crossing when the data shows low use of the crossing. We are living in an economic crisis at this time and cannot afford this luxury. I do wish that the current facilities could remain open during day time hours as a cost saving means with access for emergency personnel as needed.
Other crossings in proximity to the Morses Line crossing are capable of handling a higher capacity of vehicles (i.e. W. Berkshire and Richford's multiple crossings). The Franklin community does benefit from the traffic entering in W. Berkshire. There are groups of Canadian bicyclists in the East Franklin and W. Berkshire area almost every weekend of the biking season enjoying Lake Carmi on their way to Montgomery and Jay Peak.
