The proposed rule is not clear on the procedure to be followed at the time of departure. Currently the alien turns in the departure portion of the form and hands it over to the carrier, who in turn returns in to CBP. Also CBP is assuming that all the aliens will have access to a printer. How can they print in absense of a printer. Also where they will contact if they loose their passport and do not have aceess to all the information. I think it will be a good idea to include the following in the proposed rule for automation: After the entry in the automated system, the CBP officer will print a copy of the departure portion and hand it over to the alien and this will include information to print additional copies through the website.
