The TWIC program is a colosal waste of time, money and resources. I have had a TWIC card for going on six years- I had to renew ($129.95 twice) it to get my Merchant Mariners Credential despite the fact that it has not been accepted by US Customs, Airlines, or airport security. I attempt to use it every time and it is simply not recognized as positive identification. To add insult- making an appointment at the enrollment center requires that I take a day off work, drive for an hour, wait for my appointment, drive the hour back home, wait for the card to come in, take another day off work, drive back for an hour to pick the @#$&^*&! card up, and then drive home for an hour, four bridge tolls at $4.50 each way. And all this is after I have so many other ID's all issued by the worthless government bureaucrats. Drivers license, passport, birth certificate, merchant seamans card, etc. etc. Neither of the companies I work for have readers so why bother?
