This proposal definitely makes sense. I commute from West Seattle daily over
this bridge with my husband and we have witnessed huge back ups, up to one
hour, on feeder streets due to the bridge opening to allow vessels through during
rush hour. Vessel traffic, although important to the economy, impedes other forms
of commerce including trucks and rail transporting containers off-loaded from
ships. This is definitely a high industry area but commuters do use this route as
there is no easy way to head southbound on WA Hwy 99 from West Seattle.
