Dear Sir or Madam:
The Washington State Parks & Recreation Commission supports the proposed
regulations changed to require lifejacket wear for persons in recreational vessels
while crossing specified bars in Washingon waters.
The wear of lifejackets by people on recreational vessels saves lives. In the event
of mishaps while crossing bars, and in view of the unknown skills and abilities of
operators of recreational vessels, the proposal for required wear of lifejackets can
result in saved lives.
By adopting this proposal the federal government will make an impact on the
behavior of people engaged in recreational boating activities by changing rates of
wear which will reduce the unnecessary loss of life.
Very Respectfully Submitted,
Mark T. Kenny
