I am in favor of strict regulation of vessels carrying passengers for hire across the bar channels. The people who go on these trips put their lives in the hands of the operator and there should be government oversight for them. With regards to other commercial and recreational vessels, I don't think it is the governments role to tell them when they can or cannot transit a given waterway. There should be extensive information and notification provided for all mariners but they should be free to make decisions based upon their own expertise and equipment. In this time of fiscal troubles more regulations and government interference is the opposite of what is needed.
