Yank Marine Inc. is a commercial shipyard located on the Tuckahoe River. For more than 40 years, we have been building and repairing all types of vessels at this location. Our facility has a 600-ton marine railway and a 200-ton Marine Travelift which allows us to haul, repair and build vessels up to 200 tons and 150 feet in length.
Although the arrival and departure of any of our commercial customers requires the opening of the Beesley's Point Bridge, we do not feel that the schedule that is proposed would create a hardship for our business or our customers. As long as we can request a bridge opening upon giving the County 2 hours advance notice as outlined, and a bridge opening upon signal at all other times, we do not forsee a problem.
However, what is an ongoing problem for us, is the current width of the opening of the Beesley's Point Bridge. Many of our commercial customers also own other vessels that are too wide to navigate this bridge in order to reach our facility. If the County could address this width restriction issue when planning the eventual reconstruction, it would be much appreciated.
