As a citizen of Memphis Tennessee, I live only ten minutes away from the a Mississippi River. I remember last year when all of the flooding was occurring and how the river instantly went from a trademark of our city to a threat to all of us. I think that it's a good thing that safety zones are established during the needed times in order to ensure that safety is maintained. I think it is important that not only is the river protected from erosion etc, but it is also important that the safety of the people who live near the river is considered. As long as it does not effect the small businesses in a negative way or impact the economy of the cities negatively, then I think that safety is the most important thing to consider.
