I'll admit I do not undertsand all the issues related to vessel traffic, haz mat, etc. on the river. What I do understand is the impact that unscheduled bridge openings have on us highway travelers. The impact is large, and is not only inconvenient, but can also result in an economic impact due to missed appoinitments and lost business. This week there were 2 openings during morning rush hour. Why? I liked the scheduled openings and think that the new "window" is a step backwards. In fact I support ALL openings to be scheduled, regradless of time of day. Of course I am biased because I am a driver, not a ship's captain. You have to weigh the pros and cons of each option, but I want you to know how us drivers feel.
Thanks.
