SNPRM: Anchorages: Change to Cottonwood Island Anchorage, Columbia River, Oregon and Washington (Federal Register Publication)

The Columbia River Pilots, along with many other stakeholders, have been actively involved with the proposed establishment of the Prescott Anchorage and extension of the Cottonwood Anchorage. We believe both these anchorages are critical components in managing the navigational safety in the Columbia River System. Regional analysis indicates future trends towards larger vessels and increased vessel traffic. Expansion of anchorage capacity is vitally important in responding to this growth. We strongly urge the USCG to adopt the proposed rule.
