I started to submit earlier and the connection timed out and submitted a partial response. The USCG has ramped us the usage of the CG-2692 form as of late. Instead of requiring the form for serious injury and a serious equipment failure we have been asked to submot these for all most all reported events. Any event that has required us to secure one of our four drivelines on the four engine fast vessel has now required a 2692. Even though the driveline was shut down by our choice and the vessel is has plenty of propulsive power and manuverability. we ahve been asked to submit a 2692 for every occasion that an ambulance has been called. Even if the responding paramedics conclude there is nothing serious. Every time we have to submit a 2692 it take between 8-12 hours of time between management, vessel masters and mechanics. Each of these incidents are costing the District betwen $800-$1200 at a minimum. I have not had the time to total it all up but I can easily say that the District has incured tens of thousands of dollars in costs associated with an overa gressive use of the 2693 form.
