This meeting is scheduled at an excellent time to coincide with Pacific Marine Expo which draws commercial fishing industry representatives from across the nation. It is also a very timely and cost effective way to allow education and comments from the fishing industry on proposed safety regulations at a location (Seattle) that has one of the largest sectors of the U.S. fishing industry located.
This is a good example of the Coast Guard reaching out to industry at a time and location that is most convenient to industry. Good to see the Coast Guard being responsive to industry and a good use of funding to send a few people from the Coast Guard to where the industry is located, instead of expecting fishermen to go the Washington D.C.
