While supporting the event in question as important for the state, it must not interfer with commercial shipping anymore than is absolutely necessary. Any time frame that restricts vessel movements must be minimized. It seems that requests such as this are becoming more frequent. The commercial industry has always been able to work in concert with sponsors of such events and they need to do the same. While it may provide short term benefits to RI, the shipping industry provides jobs on a daily basis
